Profile: Jan Dauve
Jan Dauve, Ph.D., director of undergraduate studies and adviser chair in the agricultural economics department, knows his subject.
In the past he has taught almost every course listed in the department.
He currently teaches two introductory courses in Applied Microeconomics and Macroeconomics at the undergraduate level and advises a large number of undergraduate students.
His prestigious awards in teaching are countless and nominations have originated from students, faculty colleagues as well as top administrators in the college.
The awards and honors in teaching he has received include: William T. Kemper Fellow for Excellence in Teaching, Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, University of Missouri Wakonse Teaching Fellow, CAFNR's Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching and Gamma Sigma Delta's Undergraduate Teaching Award of Merit.
Dauve not only excels in his teaching, but he is an outstanding adviser—among the best you can get at MU.
He takes advising at the individual level, that is, every student matters, and every student is seen as unique. He treats students based on their personal needs and aspirations and motivates them to act beyond the courses they take.
His role as an adviser has impacted the lives of so many students that he has also received several awards as an adviser including: MU's Outstanding Adviser Award, CAFNR Golden Apple Award, Greek Life's Outstanding Faculty Member, Agricultural Economics Club Outstanding Adviser, Social Sciences Unit's Adviser Recognition, CAFNR's Outstanding Undergraduate Advising and American Agricultural Economics Association's Senior Adviser Recognition.
