Financial Assistance
The College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) offers you one of the strongest scholarship programs at MU. Each year, CAFNR awards more than $750,000 in scholarships; more than half of which is awarded to incoming freshmen.
Scholarships

- Birkenholz Leadership Award
For juniors or seniors in agricultural education who are former FFA members with outstanding leadership skills. Recipients must have a cumulative grade point average above 2.75. - Eldon K. Ewalt Scholarship
For agricultural education majors intending to teach. First preference is to Knox County High School graduates; second preference is for graduates from high schools in counties adjacent to Knox County. - *Robert L. Hawkins Scholarship
For CAFNR students from southwest Missouri studying to become secondary school agriculture teachers. - *Carl M. Humphrey Recognition Scholarship
For students actively participating in the agricultural education program who intend to become secondary school agriculture teachers. - *Jerry L. Litton Memorial Fund
For students with leadership potential as evidenced by active participation in FFA activities or an interest in agricultural journalism. Awards alternate between agricultural education and agricultural journalism. - *William Leslie Magruder Memorial Fund for Agriculture
For students studying to become secondary school agriculture teachers, based on academic excellence, leadership, dedication and professional promise in the field. - Curtis Ross Weston Scholarship
For undergraduate students majoring in agricultural education with emphasis area in agricultural mechanics.
FFA Scholarships
There are two FFA scholarships offered to entering freshmen that are administered through the department of agricultural education. You can apply to both scholarships using a single application (Word). The application deadline is May 1. Details on the FFA Scholarships:
- Curators Interscholastic Events Scholarships are awarded to entering freshmen who are winners of high ratings in state agriculture/FFA Career Development Events and who rank in the upper third of their graduating class.
- Orscheln Farm and Home Supply Inc. Scholarships are awarded to entering freshmen who have been four-year members of FFA, have demonstrated outstanding leadership ability and have excelled scholastically. Preference will be given to applicants who live in areas served by Orscheln Farm and Home stores.
